Admissions for the 2012-2013 school year

Thank you for your interest in the Atlanta Progressive Preschool, a program of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta (UUCA).  Due to recent administrative changes, staff reorganization and the commencement of a multi-phase playground renovation project, the 2012 Summer Session scheduled to run from May 29th – July 20th has been canceled (for more information about the closure, please visit the Summer Session 2012 page on this site) . In addition, UUCA is in the process of identifying and recruiting a new program director to reshape the program to better serve the needs and meet the expectations of our children, their families and teachers.

Some of our criteria for a new program director include (but are not limited to) :

  • a passion for the Reggio Emilia educational philosophy;

  • degree and/or national certification in early childhood care/education/development;

  • previous preschool administration experience including curriculum development, teacher training & education, and staff supervision;

  • outstanding communication skills;

  • ability to actively engage parents, families and congregation members to create and uphold a healthy and nurturing environment for all children;

  • commitment to child safety;

  • demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively on a multi-staff team;

  • creative, honest, compassionate, and caring;

Our hope is to have our new director hired and in place by June 15th to begin the process of re-imagining the program for the fall. Currently, our plan is for the first day of classes to be, Wednesday, August 15th. As we continue our search for a new director, we will suspend all application and fee deadlines. As soon as the new director is in place, we will publish an updated application process including application deadlines, deposit fees, and reduced tuition reates for fall 2012.

Thank you, in advance, for your patience and cooperation. We look forward to the opportunities that come with a fresh start and a new beginning.
